Prof. George T. Odamtten
Prof. served as Head, Dept. of Plant and Environmental Biology twice; Acting Dean of the Graduate Studies and Dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of Ghana. He has been External Examiner in some Universities both home and abroad. He was a visiting Professor to the Wageningen Agricultural University and also a reviewer of many peer-reviewed International Journals. Prof. Odamtten is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Ghana Journal of Science.
He was the founding Vice President of the African Mycological Association and member of WHO Expert Committee Group in Aflatoxins in Foods, Congo in 2005. He has been a foundation member of the United Nations University Institute for Natural Resources in Africa UNU/INRA, College of Research Associates (1995); one time member of the New York Academy of Sciences and Foundation Secretary to the African Biosciences Network ABN/ICSU (Ghana Chapter). He was cited in IBC Marquis "Who is who in the World 1998-2000, and was Scientific Advisor to the International Foundation for Science, IFS, and a member of over 12 Scientific Societies in Ghana and abroad.
Prof. Odamtten served on the National Codex Alimentarius Committee on Food Additives and Safety (from 2006).
His research interests are in mycology, plant pathogenic fungi, post-harvest pathology, fungal physiology, fungal toxins, biological control, mushroom technology, food irradiation processing and molecular plant pathology.
He has attended and presented papers at many scientific conferences in Ghana, Africa, Europe and the USA and has over 140 publications including books; and a Fellow of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences.
